NEW YORK---Each morning Linda Fairstein, the former sex-crimes prosecutor turned crime novelist, glances at the mug shots of early 20th-century Westchester County criminals lurking in her bathroom and grins. “I bought a collection of 100 at auction in 2012,” she said of the motley crew. “I always get myself a Christmas present so I’m not disappointed.” Ms. Fairstein has lived for less than two years in the Upper East Side duplex penthouse she shares with her second husband, Michael Goldberg, whom she met in 1969 on her first day at the University of Virginia law school and married in 2014.
